About Amies Agar Gel

Mantacc Amies agar formula contains a balanced blend of salts, buffers, gelling agents, and other components tailored to maintain fastidious bacterial viability. Key ingredients include:

Sodium chloride, which promotes gonococcal survival
Phosphate buffers, which maintain pH control
Thioglycollate and agar, which provide an anaerobic environment
Activated charcoal, which absorbs toxic metabolic byproducts, specially good for Neisseria gonorrhoeae (why?).
Electrolytes like potassium, calcium, and magnesium, which regulate osmotic balance and cell permeability

【Expected Cultivation Experiment】
Separately incubate inocula for 18-24 hours on Soybean Casein Digest Agar (DM247) and observe cultural characteristics. Use inoculum amounts of 50-100 CFU.
Recommended Quality Control Strains and Results:
Amies with charcoal culture medium:
1. Enterococcus faecalis (ATCC 25285), aerobic, 25-30°C 24 hours, good recovery in subsequent cultivation.
2. Haemophilus influenzae (ATCC 10211), aerobic, 25-30°C 24 hours, good recovery in subsequent cultivation.
3. Neisseria gonorrhoeae (ATCC 43069), aerobic, 25-30°C 24 hours, good recovery in subsequent cultivation.
4. Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 19615), aerobic, 25-30°C 24 hours, good recovery in subsequent cultivation.
Amies without charcoal culture medium:
1. Enterococcus faecalis (ATCC 25285), aerobic, 25-30°C 24 hours, good recovery in subsequent cultivation.
2. Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 19615), aerobic, 25-30°C 24 hours, good recovery in subsequent cultivation.
Verifying with these recommended quality control strains can confirm the Amies culture media meet the required performance standards.
