In the lab, I've come across many sampling swabs, but the Mantacc swab stands out as the best one yet. The ergonomics of the swab make it easy to handle, and the innovative design ensures excellent sample collection and release. It's evident that a great deal of thought went into the engineering of this product.

  • How do I properly use the Mantacc 96000G Nasal Foam Sampling Swab?
    1. Equip yourself with proper personal protective gear, including a full gown, gloves, face mask, and eye protection.
    2. Set up clean, dry transport tubes, each marked with a unique patient ID.
    3. Ask the patient to blow their nose in order to eliminate any excess mucus.
    4. Carefully open the nasal swab from the test kit, ensuring that you hold it by the shaft without touching the swab tip.
    5. Gently insert the foam swab tip about 1 inch into the patient's nostril. While inside, rotate the swab several times against the inner nasal wall before extracting it.
    6. Put each swab tip facing downwards into a separate clean, dry transport tube labeled with the corresponding patient ID. The swabs must be tested within a 48-hour window.
  • Can the swab be used for other sample collection methods, such as oral or throat swabbing?

No, the Mantacc 96000G Nasal Foam Sampling Swab is specifically designed for nasal sample collection and is not intended for other sample collection methods, such as oral or throat swabbing. The reason for this limitation is that the swab's design, including its size, shape, and material composition, has been optimized for efficient and comfortable sampling in the nasal cavity. Using the swab for other purposes, like oral or throat swabbing, may lead to suboptimal results and potential discomfort for the patient. It is recommended to use swabs that are specifically designed for oral or throat sample collection to ensure accuracy, safety, and comfort during the procedure.

  • What is the shelf life of the Mantacc 96000G swab?

The shelf life is 36 months.

  • How should I store the Mantacc 96000G Nasal Foam Sampling Swab prior to use?
To ensure the Mantacc Sampling Swab maintains its quality and effectiveness prior to use, follow these general storage guidelines:
    1. Store the swabs in their original packaging: Keep the swabs in the manufacturer-provided packaging to protect them from contamination, dust, and other environmental factors that could compromise their performance.
    2. Store in a cool, dry place: Maintain a temperature-controlled environment with low humidity to prevent any potential degradation of the swab materials. Extreme temperatures and high humidity can affect the foam and handle materials, compromising the swab's integrity.
    3. Keep away from direct sunlight: Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause the materials to degrade or discolor, which may affect the swab's performance.
    4. Avoid contact with chemicals: Ensure that the storage area is free of chemicals, such as solvents or corrosive substances, that could potentially damage the swab materials.
    5. Keep out of reach of children: Store the swabs in a secure location where they cannot be accessed by children to prevent accidental misuse or contamination.
  • Can the swab be reused, or is it for single-use only?

No. It is designed for single-use only. Reusing the swab may lead to inaccurate results, cross-contamination, or the spread of infection. The swab is meant to be disposed of after a single use to ensure the highest level of safety, hygiene, and reliability in sample collection. Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines and recommendations for proper use and disposal of the swab to ensure the best possible results and to maintain compliance with health and safety standards.

  • How should I dispose of the Mantacc 96000G swab after use?

It should be done according to local regulations and guidelines for handling and disposing of medical waste or biohazardous materials. After using the swab for sample collection, follow these general steps:
    1. Place the used swab in a designated biohazard waste container: Ensure that the container is appropriately labeled and designed for handling medical waste or biohazardous materials.
    2. Handle the swab with care: Use gloves or other personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling the used swab to minimize the risk of contamination or exposure to potential pathogens.
    3. Follow local regulations for disposal: Check with your local waste management authority or healthcare facility for specific guidelines and requirements related to medical waste disposal in your area.
    4. Dispose of the PPE properly: After handling the used swab and placing it in the appropriate waste container, dispose of your gloves and any other PPE according to your facility's protocols or local regulations.

  • Can the swab be sterilized if needed?

The Mantacc 96000G Nasal Foam Sampling Swab is designed to be sterile when it is manufactured and packaged. However, if sterilization is required due to specific circumstances, it is important to contact us directly for more information on the recommended sterilization methods and compatibility with the swab materials.

  • Can the POM handle be separated from the foam swab easily at the 45mm breakpoint?

Yes, the Mantacc 96000G Nasal Foam Sampling Swab features a 45mm breakpoint on the POM (polyoxymethylene) handle, which is specifically designed to allow for easy separation of the handle from the foam swab. The breakpoint ensures that the swab can be conveniently detached and placed into a collection tube or vial for further processing or analysis, without any additional tools or complicated procedures.
To separate the handle from the foam swab, simply apply gentle pressure at the breakpoint, and it should snap apart cleanly and easily. Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines and recommendations for proper handling and usage of the swab to ensure accurate and reliable sample collection.

  • Can the Mantacc 96000G swab be used with different collection tubes or vials?

It depends. The swab's handle features a 45mm breakpoint, so it is important to consider the specific requirements of the collection tubes or vials you intend to use, such as dimensions, volume, and compatibility with the swab materials. Additionally, consider any storage or transport conditions required for the collected samples, such as temperature, humidity, or the presence of a transport medium.

  • Are there any known allergens or skin irritants in the materials used for the swab?

The Mantacc 96000G Nasal Foam Sampling Swab is made of medical-grade POM (polyoxymethylene) for the handle and polyurethane foam for the swab. These materials are generally considered safe and hypoallergenic for most people, as they are commonly used in various medical applications due to their stability, durability, and resistance to chemicals.
However, it is essential to note that individual sensitivities or allergies may still occur in some cases. If a patient experiences discomfort, irritation, or an allergic reaction during or after using the swab, they should consult a healthcare professional immediately. It's also crucial to follow our guidelines and recommendations to ensure the swab's safety and effectiveness during use.

  • What precautions should be taken while handling the swab to avoid contamination of the sample?

To avoid contamination of the sample while handling the Mantacc 96000G Nasal Foam Sampling Swab, follow these precautions:
    1. Hand hygiene: Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer before handling the swab.
    2. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE): Use gloves, masks, and any other required PPE to minimize the risk of contamination.
    3. Avoid touching the foam tip: Only handle the swab by the POM handle, taking care not to touch the foam tip with your hands or any other surfaces.
    4. Maintain a clean working environment: Perform the sampling procedure in a clean and clutter-free area to minimize the risk of contamination from the surroundings.
    5. Use aseptic techniques: Open the swab packaging carefully, without touching the foam tip, and perform the sampling procedure following proper aseptic techniques.
    6. Use a new swab for each patient: The Mantacc 96000G swab is designed for single-use only. Always use a fresh, sterile swab for each patient to prevent cross-contamination.
    7. Proper storage: Store the swabs in their original packaging, in a cool, dry place, and away from direct sunlight to maintain their sterility before use.

    2. Allergies or sensitivities: Although the materials used in the swab (medical-grade POM handle and polyurethane foam) are generally considered safe and hypoallergenic, individual sensitivities or allergies may still occur. If a patient has a known allergy or sensitivity to any of the swab materials, consult a healthcare professional before using the swab.
    3. Nasal obstructions or deformities: In cases of severe nasal obstructions or deformities, using the nasal swab may be difficult or uncomfortable for the patient. A healthcare professional can provide guidance on alternative sampling methods in these situations.
