1. Do I need to wipe off the CHG antiseptic liquid after applying the MIP-707F swabstick?
No, the 2% CHG solution should be left on the skin to provide continued antimicrobial activity up to 7 days. Do not wipe or rinse off.
2. What are considered "dry" and "moist" skin sites for catheter insertion?
Dry sites include the abdomen, back, and forearms with no moisture or skin folds. Moist sites include skin folds and areas prone to perspiration like the groin, under arms, and under breasts.
3. What types of dressings can I use over the MIP-707F swabstick application site?
Semi-occlusive transparent dressings are recommended to secure the catheter and allow the skin to breathe. Avoid non-breathable occlusive dressings.
4. Why is it recommended to use back and forth strokes when applying the MIP-707F swabstick?
The friction from the strokes allows the CHG antiseptic to penetrate deeper into the skin's top layer for better antimicrobial effect.
5. What is the proper storage temperature range for the MIP-707F swabsticks?
Store at controlled room temperature between 68-77°F (20-25°C). Avoid extreme heat or cold. Check expiration date prior to use.
